Write a Poem inspired by this photo.
When I checked my comments, I was delighted to find this poem by Terrence Darden.
Here is the photo and the poem together.
Just stuck in this place forever,
That I'm bound & doomed
To sit through cycle after cyle
While time moves on.
Who's keeping watch & are they really?
All the while, the gauges keep turning.
Who's counting & are they keeping up?
It appears that I'm stuck
That I'm bound & doomed
What they can't see and
No matter how time moves on
One thing time can't stop
Is the constant ticking under the helmet
The constant ticking of my inner clock
As I sit partially exposed
Weighed down by brass wings
Skillfully designed to carry heavy loads,
It appears that I'm stuck, bound & doomed
But with my hands tied behind my back
I'm flying in place
Flying under the radar
Until I choose to come up and be seen.
